Biography



Seth Warner is a vibrant performer on lute, theorbo, vihuela and guitars whose performances have been described as "ethereal" by the Portland Press Herald. Seth holds a Masters degree in musicology from the University of New Hampshire where he studied historical performance with Olav Chris Henriksen and has also studied with Catherine Liddell and Hopkinson Smith. Over the past several months he has performed in concerts in Boston, New York, Walpole, New Hampshire, Williamsburg, Virginia. Most recently he gave a solo fringe concert on the vihuela for the 2005 Boston Early Music Festival and performed the Vivaldi lute concerto with the Mostly Baroque Players in Hartford, Connecticut. Other performance credits include the 2003 BEMF and live appearances on Boston’s WGBH and both Vermont and Maine Public Radio’s distinguished classical music programs. Seth is the director of the Early Music at St. Luke’s concert series as well as the vocal and instrumental ensemble Music for a while. Seth served on the faculty of The University of Maine Farmington and is now the Manager of the Olin Arts Center at Bates College. His recording with Scott Lemire, The Leaves be Green: English lute duets has received international praise and was featured on the nationally distributed early music radio program Harmonia.
